What makes design beautiful?

This bag has been to more countries than most people. I bought it a little over 5 years ago on a trip to San Francisco, and it’s been with me ever since. It’s been used and abused since the day I bought it, and it’s still going strong.

Clean, simple, functional, reliable. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and does it really well. It’s the kind of object that serves its owner with unwavering loyalty, and because of that it has a value way beyond what I paid for it. That’s the kind of design I like. 

Isn’t that what makes a design beautiful?
